Verdict

Another fascinating clash between Duke Of Marmalade and New Approach after their meeting at Newmarket last month in the rearranged Juddmonte International which saw 'The Duke' come out on top by just over three lengths. That made it five Group One wins this so far in a remarkable season for Aidan O'Brien's inmate, who seems equally happy at either 10 or 12 furlongs. The one proviso from the stable is that further rain would not be in his favour as he is a good-ground horse and there is a chance he may not make the line-up if conditions are deemed too testing. New Approach was not disgraced last time but could never really get on terms with the in-form winner and was readily held at the line. The Epsom Derby hero will not mind the give in the ground and that may give connections hope of getting closer if Duke Of Marmalade takes his chance. This duo dominate the betting but another O'Brien runner, King Of Rome, comes here seeking a hat-trick although his last two successes have come in Group Two and Group Three company. Henry Cecil's Multidimensional has kept good company this season and deserved his win last time at Haydock but this is a far tougher assignment. MORES WELLS hammered Washington Irving on his most recent start and has always been well regarded by Kevin Prendergast. If either of the big two fail to deliver, he could be the one to benefit most on ground he relishes.
