Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has won this with some top-class fillies, including Love a year ago. Finest and Snowfall have both been slow-burners, the former just coming good at Limerick and the latter looking much improved when landing the odds at the Curragh. Wayne Lordan rode both and chooses the more recent winner this time. Donnacha O'Brien is also doubly represented with Hazel, who found Navan's extended 5f too short when runner-up, possibly second fiddle to easy Gowran winner Shale. However, the latter couldn't get close to Oodnadatta over the course and distance in June when Jessica Harrington's filly looked a high-class prospect. The stable also run No Speak Alexander, who took advantage of heavy going to win impressively at Roscommon. It may not have been the strongest of maidens that PRETTY GORGEOUS won at Bellewstown but she did it with such style that it will take a good performance to beat her and she gets the vote in a race where Curragh winner A Ma Chere looks another with good prospects as does Meala, an 11 lengths winner at Galway.
