Verdict

Little or in most cases no form to go on here, so the market's worth a close look, and from a shortlist of Cook's Endeavour, Aladdin's Lamp and Mabait, we'll side with Mark Johnston's debutant, Aladdin's Lamp. A 375 thousand guineas purchase, breeding suggests he could be a useful sprinter. He's the yard's only runner on the card, but also has a Newmarket entry for Thursday. Cook's Endeavour is having his third outing, and looks the improving sort, having been placed at Nottingham last time out, when finishing ahead of Luca Cumani's Mabait. This is a higher grade than they've previously been in, but with improvement can be involved at the business end. In recent years the market's got this race right, with a number of short priced favourites winning, and we'll look for a shining performance from Aladdin's Lamp.
