        Verdict

        The first of a couple of competitive handicaps on today's card can go to ROBERT THE PAINTER. Lee Carter's charge has placed in classified events at Ascot the last twice now and can confirm superiority with Athletic on today's revised terms. Marcret beat Jack's Revenge easily enough in soft ground at Chester but the latter is much better off at the weights here while Richard Fahey bids for a straight hat-trick of wins in this but Spirit Of The Law finished down the field at York last time along with Polar Forest. A winner in Italy, Rail Dancer is something of an unknown quantity on his first start for a new yard and the remainder are struggling for form.
