Verdict

A tough race to finish with and narrow preference is for Old Romney ahead of Pagan Crest and Rawdon. The selection used to be with Mark Johnston, then Geoff Huffer, then Neville Callaghan but didn't really make an impression on his first start for the last named and is now in the care of Mick Easterby. He is one of the shrewdest trainers around and if we discount his last run in a seller due to the ground, then this son of Halling can be a player as long as the ground doesn't deteriorate further. Norman The Great could be a contender as he has dropped 3lb in the weights following two average runs, whilst Teodora Adivina should be at home on the ground and has a course and distance win to his name. Snowed Under and Street Life are two more with C and D beside their names, whilst the latter should love any further rain. El Coto and Given A Choice are both consistent, whilst Rawdon knows how to win but might prefer the ground to dry up. Drizzi has been in good form in weaker races of late but needs a check in the betting, however it is Old Romney who gets the vote.
