In depth

Verdict

Silver Guest can put his experience to good use here and is chosen to beat Kersaint and Avertitop. Mick Channon's colt was well touted for his debut and duly went off the warm favourite. His chance seemed to have been lost with a slow start but he showed tremendous determination to get up for second spot. With that run behind him he should be hard to beat this afternoon. Kevin Ryan's Kersaint could be the pick of the newcomers as he is related to numerous winners in France and the stable remains in great form. Richard Hannon was successful with his first two-year-old of the season on Saturday and so Avertitop is another to keep on the right side. The pick of the others could be Bosun Breeze who hails from a yard in form, however if starting on terms Silver Guest is the most likely winner.

Formwatch

Avertitop Foaled 24 April. Cost 25,000gns as a yearling. Stable has been amongst the winners recently and this colt holds some entries in valuable races later in the season, so a bold bid would come as no surprise on his debut in public.

Bosun Breese Bahamian Bounty gelding out of 7f & 1m winner Nellie Melba.

Gaitskell Foaled 18 March. Full brother to Party Palace, won over 6f at two years; half-brother to Moody Tunes, won over 7f and 1m twice at three years. Dam won over 5f at two years. Cannot be dismissed on his racecourse debut, especially if the betting market.

Kairaba Foaled 3 February. Dam won over 5f six times at two, three and five years. Not the most obvious choice on his racecourse debut, but any market support should be heeded.

Kersaint (IRE) Foaled 5 March. Dam won over 1m on her only start. Represents a powerful stable and likely to know what is required of him on his debut in public, so very much one to note in the betting.

Silver Guest 2-1fav (9-3) Slowly into stride, behind, headway and switched right over 2f out, chased winner entering final furlong, ran on well, 2nd of 10, 3/4l behind Nikindi (9-3) at Folkestone 5f 2yo mdn (5) gd.

Silver Wind Foaled 21 March. Dam won over 5f three times at two and three years. Beaten 8l behind Mister Hardy when ninth of 16 at 11-2cofav on his racecourse debut at Newcastle over 5f (good to soft) last month. Should have learned from that experience and coul.

Turn And River (IRE) Foaled 2 May. Half-sister to Rinkie Dinkie Doo, won over 5f at two years and later over 5f to 1m 2f in Italy. Dam won over 6f at three years. Beaten 3 1/4l behind Mister Hardy when sixth of 16 at 50-1 on his racecourse debut at Newcastle over 5f last.
