Verdict

Limerick Boy has been found a soft opportunity to open his account over fences and should do so, with Dempsey and Dollar Law expected to give him most to do. Limerick Boy was by far the best of these over hurdles, the one-time German Group horse having appeared twice at the Cheltenham Festival, taking in the Supreme Novices' and Champion Hurdle. Because he has been campaigned at the highest level, he has not won as often over timber as connections would have liked and so his attention has now been focused on the bigger obstacles. Third to Locksmith on his chase debut in what was an above average affair for the Sussex track, he then occupied the same position behind Kadount on a return visit. This race is certainly not as tough and the only worry would be if the ground turned even softer than it is already. Other than that, it is hard to look elsewhere for the winner. Former useful hurdler Dempsey has not impressed on either start over fences but also has time on his side. He can give the selection most to do ahead of Dollar Law who was beaten a distance on his chase debut at Warwick but can only get better. Limerick Boy is hard to oppose though and should justify his short price.
