Artic Rose disappointed at Yarmouth on Thursday so preference here is for NELLIE ELLIS; Thakeham and Calormen have place claims. Kevin Ryan's filly stayed on strongly to win at Beverley to get off the mark at the fourth time of asking, having shown promise previously. The form of that race looks strong for the grade with the second having won next time and the third going a spot better, so in this similarly weak affair she's taken to win again with the step up in trip expected to be no problem. Artic Rose had come up against an above-average sort in her two placed efforts but disappointed on Thursday and it remains to be seen whether she's asked to run here; she could bounce back and the market will tell us what is expected. Thakeham was a disappointing favourite last time but if returning to his York second would have excellent claims; he's not been with David Evans long and there's a race to be won with this colt. Calormen looked in need of a sixth furlong when one-paced last time and could take a hand but on a line through his conquerer needs to improve to beat Nellie Ellis, while Mick Channon's pair don't look up to following in the footsteps of last year's winning stablemate and Dark Times needs more, so it'll be Nellie Ellis for us.
