In depth

Verdict

Winning point-to-pointer SHAKE IT UP showed steady progress over timber and was in front and travelling well when his saddle slipped on his debut over fences at Tramore. He has the scope to do better and is handed the vote. Soteira put a poor performance at Tramore in December behind him when a very good third at Gowran though that was over the minimum trip. Winter Breeze was in touch when falling three out at Thurles and looks the type to continue on the upgrade while Sandra Hughes' newcomer Distant Rain has a very classy pedigree and is one to note in the market. Shouband, who made a promising start over hurdles after showing potential in bumpers, is another to consider.
