Verdict

A renewal that lacks the quality of previous years and Silverburn can see off Here's Johnny and Joe Lively. Silverburn has reportedly had problems with ulcers and ran as if needing the race when finishing behind Hobbs Hill. This race has clearly been in the plans of Paul Nicholls for some time and the half-brother to Denman can be expected to have built substantially upon that effort. Here's Johnny won particularly well at Worcester and may have beaten Joe Lively at Sandown had he not made mistakes. Joe Lively has gone on to win since at Cheltenham so the effort cannot be crabbed. Barber's Shop isnt the most straight forward of individuals so the market is watched to see if he has shown anything at home since his second to Big Bucks. Self Defense is a fair hurdler although his chasing isn't quite up to the same level. Premiership shouldn't be good enough. Silverburn has always promised plenty and now is the time to deliver.
