In depth

Verdict

Not a strong maiden and it might pay to side with newcomer RED GULCH to get the better of Prince Yarraman and Bush Master. The last-named has had numerous chances to break his duck, and whilst he has been placed on this surface over this trip at Lingfield in the past, and has a reasonable enough official mark to set the standard, he clearly looks vulnerable. Prince Yarraman is a nicely-bred debutant saddled by Jamie Osborne and the Chineur colt is related to numerous juvenile scorers at around this trip. That augurs well for him, though on the negative side the yard is not in red hot form. Ed Dunlop's runners would have to be considered in better shape at present and he trains the selection Red Gulch, a Kyllachy colt who doubled in price as a two-year-old and who is related to Fantastic Fellow, who was top-class at that age as he showed when winning the Middle Park. He is likely to be straight enough for this first run and Keiren Fallon is a good man to have on our side. Tiger Star is also related to winning juvenile stock and the stable's runners are in good nick, so he is not ruled out, although blinkers on debut are a little offputting, while Bramshaw was a 130,000 dollars purchase and from the family of a top Canadian two-year-old, so support for him would be interesting. Kings 'N Dreams looks the best of the others with experience and is stepped back up to this trip after finishing just out of the frame over 6f at Doncaster on soft ground last time. He merits plenty of respect, but we will chance Red Gulch.
