Verdict

Players Please won nicely and with the promise of a fair bit more to come on debut and can follow up in the last on the card, with Sweetheart, Daylami Dreams and Six Shots others to consider. The Mark Johnston-trained selection beat Challis by a length last time despite running green and with that runner having come out and won since the form looks plenty solid enough to bring into this race, so he is taken to improve and score again. Sweetheart took a nine furlong maiden on slightly slower ground last time and is more experienced than the selection but does not look to have the same scope and is opposed. Daylami Dreams won over 10f at Lingfield on his penultimate start but struggled to cope with a 5lb rise last time and may have to wait for another opportunity to double his winning tally, while Six Shots steps back up in trip here, which is not guaranteed to be of benefit, and he also needs a drop in the weights to be seen to best effect, so we are happy to side with Players Please to prevail.
