In depth

Verdict

Provided that she handles the surface on her first try this opener can probably go to Melt, with Kalligal, Lady Vibeeka and Blue Zenith the likely dangers. The Richard Hannon-trained selection has raced only with cut in the ground thus far, but her most recent run behind Italian Art at Nottingham reads well in the context of this race. Her sire Intikhab had some form on a variety of surfaces, so she may be good enough to break her duck this time. Kalligal has seen plenty of racecourse action for a juvenile and has tried both soft and fast ground as well as having a go here over 6f last time. The drop back in trip should not inconvenience and if she runs to her best then she won't be far away. Lady Vibeeka was overrated by the handicapper at first glance and has been dropped a few pounds since, and she ran well over c&d last time. However, on official ratings she has plenty to do against some of these and we will oppose. Blue Zenith looks a better bet, although she too has to prove she handles conditions, but if she does that then she could pose the most serious threat to our selection Melt.
