Verdict

Kempton's opening race, a six-furlong conditions event for juveniles, brings together three first start winners in the field of seven. The best of them looks to be Lord Links, who Richard Hannon sent out to win at Newmarket on 2,000 Guineas day. Although the son of promising first-season sire Daggers Drawn only scored by a neck that day, he gave the impression that there was more in the tank if it had been needed. It often can be the case that Hannon two-year-olds who score at the first time of asking are pretty decent sorts and it would not surprise us at all if Lord Links was to add a second victory to his card here. The Neville Callaghan-trained Barbajuan made his successful bow at Lingfield, when he gave the impression that stepping up to six furlongs would bring about improvement, while Mick Channon¿'s Fun And Games seemed to relish Carlisle's stiff five furlongs on her debut earlier this month. In the absence of a particularly strong word for any of the newcomers, Lord Links gets the vote.
