    Verdict

COLUMBIAN ROULETTE had shown improved form at Wolverhampton in November and went to Southwell with a favourite's chance three weeks ago. His supporters were counting their winning when he ducked badly left and unshipped Martin Dwyer. He's wearing blinkers this time and compensation awaits. Royal Bushida and Tortoise eventually filled the places in that race but would have been well beaten. Libra Romana looks a likely threat as she will be much more suited to this trip than the 6f races she ran in as a juvenile. Frankthetank enjoyed the step-up to 7f on Southwell's stamina-sapping terrain and may find a few of these too quick.
