    Verdict

MANGONEL only won a Fakenham seller six days ago and carries a penalty here. That was the mare's first success in 29 attempts but the winning margin was 36 lengths and she may well be good enough to follow up here against rivals who have much to prove at present. Slam hasn't raced since failing to justify favouritism at Wincanton more than a year ago while Mwaleshi has been well beaten in all three starts over hurdles. Mr Bachster has twice been placed off this mark, however, and is turned out again quickly after finishing third at Hereford last Thursday.
