Verdict

PRINCE CHARLEMAGNE was a course and distance winner here last time out, after winning at Lingfield the week before and looks set to complete the hat-trick today. The well-exposed gelding is known as something of Lingfield specialist, but proved his worth at Kempton last time out in game style off a 4lb higher mark, so should not go up much for this. The selection's closest contender should be Fantasy Ride. The gelding was beaten favourite last time out, but has been running well of late and looks better than bare form suggests. The seven-year-old runs well early on but tends to stray on the final furlong, hence not making our selection. Carlton Scoop has gained two of his three previous wins here. He has won off 2lb higher in the past so is still reasonably handicapped. This should be a tightly fought run until the end, so for the winner we look to Prince Charlemagne.
