The 13-year-old Banker Count has won his last two starts, latterly against similarly old rivals, and this looks tougher with preference for Brown Teddy, who gets the vote ahead of Royal Atalza. The last mentioned is not the most consistent of performers but showed enough at Wetherby in October and at the same venue last week to suggest that a race of this nature would be within his compass. Geoff Huffer's eight-year-old has to be respected along with Peccadillo, who has gone well here before and has his ideal conditions. Zeta's River is an interesting contender for trainer Martin Pipe and should strip fitter for a recent return after a lengthy absence. He is unexposed and has been given a chance by the handicapper so the market may provide the best guide as to his expectations. Polar Scout and Tom Costalot are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Brown Teddy. Richard Ford's gelding is set to go up 4lbs in future handicaps following an improved display when second to Schuh Shine over course and distance last month and a reproduction of that effort may suffice.
