In depth

Verdict

A weak maiden and Orama's Ghost might be the answer ahead of Inspirina and Bessie Smith. Orama's Ghost was an expensive failure when trained by Sir Michael Stoute and while that was a pretty ordinary maiden that she found one too good in three weeks ago; connections have been fortunate to find a race that is even worse. Inspirana showed a glimmer of hope with Tom George so cannot be passed over in this grade. Bessie Smith started life with John Oxx in Ireland but didn't last too long at those stables. Botha Brugha has been exposed in handicaps as ordinary. Shanagolden Juan is a failed selling plater over hurdles whilst Hester Brook and Dot's Delight need to find improvement from somewhere. Simply The Quest is with Rod Simpson and despite some illustrious breeding, the fact she raised just 700 guineas at the sales does not bode well. A bad race in which Orama's Ghost has unearthed a visit to the last chance saloon.
