In depth

Verdict

BOBS WORTH is just about the call in a difficult race to solve with Mabel Tasman, Trojan Reef, Filbert and Behindcloseddoors others to consider. Nicky Henderson has a fine record in this type of event and his son of Bob Back ran with credit behind a better-fancied stablemate in February. It's notable that the fourth horse Captain Chris has carried all before him over hurdles since and with that in mind the form looks rock solid and our selection should have come on for the run, which would make him very hard to beat. Mabel Tasman has been solid if unspectacular in three starts to date but the filly gets all the allowances and should again take some sort of hand in the finish under ideal conditions. She can get the better of Trojan Reef in the predicted battle for second depsite that one having Danny Cook claiming a valuable three. He ran well for a long way before getting tired and should improve to take a hand in the finish but he perhaps lacks the class of our selection. Filbert represents an in-form yard and needs a market check on his debut as a likely type on paper but perhaps he'll want a bit of cut in the ground, whilst Behindcloseddoors has a bit to prove carrying a penalty now stepped up in trip. Vincentian is by the same sire as our pick and merits a market check although the yard wouldn't be known for winners in this sphere, Tycoons Reflection may be better when given something to jump and Grey Wulff didn't look anything above moderate when making his debut. An interesting bumper, but one that should go to Bobs Worth if he can just repeat his debut form.
