    Verdict

Pearl Jam just failed to catch Necoleta in a classified stakes here last month. She wears cheekpieces on her handicap debut in modest company and it would be no surprise to see her go one better, despite the indifferent form of James Fanshawe’s yard. But PURPLE PADDY overcame trouble in-running to score for second time over course and distance two weeks ago. He appears to have the plum draw and, despite a 4lb rise, can again beat Mister Musicmaster and Solveig's Song. Geneva Spur is not improving and Max Guevara is 1-21 but back over his winning distance.
