Verdict

TARTAN TRIP disappointed at Newbury but is worth siding with now returned to Polytrack under David Probert. Andrew Balding's three-year-old had previously finished close behind Shamir over course and distance and while Jo Crowley's charge is respected, we'd expect the form to be reversed with a stronger pace likely to suit Tartan Trip, who also sports a first-time visor. L'Hirondelle likes it here and ran well on the turf last time so must be considered although on a previous line of form he has work to do with Clockmaker, a horse who'd looked to be improving rapidly prior to coming unstuck at Sandown. Den's Gift should improve for returning to Kempton but he didn't do enough at Lingfield to suggest he's ready to win this off 87, while well-drawn Red Somerset may be found out by the rise in the weights he's incurred for taking second in a less competitive race recently.
