In depth

Verdict

A few in with a chance in this small-field claimer and the narrow vote goes to Coole Dodger ahead of Copperbottomed. The selection ran well in defeat last time out and Brendan Powell's colt has solid claims again today. He tends to pull hard in his races so the drop in trip may not be a negative and he is fancied to oblige. Copperbottomed is a regular in this sort of grade but he doesn't win as often as he perhaps should and can be taken on again, despite the drop in trip not being a bad move. Orange Square is consistent enough but will have to perform better today over this trip than when tried over five last time out. Wee Buns needs respect, along with Hold That Call who drops in trip and class. An open race, and preference is for Coole Dodger.
