In depth

Verdict

A race that appears to centre on Bay Kenney and Dickensbury Lad, with the former preferred as the one with the more solid profile over this trip at this stage of his career. None of the rest really stand out as likely types to cause an upset and it is hard to enthuse about anything getting the better of the two horses that make the longest journey to Kelso for this contest. For what it's worth, Cisco and Lescer's Lad are closely matched on their meeting here at the end of March and can scrap it out for the final piece of the frame. However, neither has ever managed to win a race to date and will need to post vastly improved performances for that to change today. Old Nosey has not been the most reliable of characters to follow as he has only one career victory to his name. He does have the stamina for this trip though and could also do his bit to ensure that the battle for the place-money goes down to the wire. Whereas Snoopy Loopy takes a huge step up in trip for his hurdles debut and is probably best watched for now. Therefore, it does look to be a good opportunity for Bay Kenney to build on a string of promising runs since he switched to hurdling and he is the logical choice with this test of stamina sure to suit.
