Verdict

A tough race to call for punters with not much between any of the fancied runners, but the principals look to be Jordans Ridge, Cil Churnain and A Piece of Cake, and we will take a chance on Cil Churnain. The bottom weight from the Sue Smith yard has held his form well and was a good fifth behind Calling Brave at Aintree last time. The switch back to fences should suit and if he sees out this longer trip he will not be far away. Jordans Ridge is in the form of his life at present and was a good winner when defeating Weaver George last time. But he will find this harder under his penalty. A Piece of Cake improved throughout last season but he has a 253 day absence to overcome and he too is unproven over a trip this far. Direct Access looks the best of the rest and is thrown in on his novice form, but we are happy to side with Cil Churnain.
