In depth

Verdict

APACHE CHANT caught a tartar last time out and can gain recompense ahead of Zen Factor and Carrig An Uisce. Tony Carroll's runners have been in decent form of late and this one advertised that with a second to Qaspal at Kempton. That one has subsequently gone in again to merit a rating of 124, so off 103 our selection remains handicapped to go very close if coping with the ground. Zen Factor hasn't been seen out since early December but that effort has also been franked whilst he should enjoy conditions. It's a concern that the gelding remains a maiden but providing he's fit for action a big effort looks in the offing. Likewise Carrig An Uisce should go close judging by his last time second when seemingly suited by the drop in drip. A 4lb rise makes life tougher for this 12-race maiden but this is a particularly weak affair and a big run looks virtually assured. The drop in trip is a concern for Red Onion but he's unexposed and has claims if showing the required speed, Sagunt hasn't had many chances over timber and has won a flat handicap on soft, whilst Gunslinger surely remains capable of better if his flat rating is to be believed. At prices Richard The Third could surprise a few under his ideal conditions and Couer Brule is no forlorn hope either, but in the belief that he faces nothing of the quality of Qaspal this time we'll side with Apache Chant.
