In depth

Verdict

Only three make much appeal in this hands and heels novices hurdle, with QUILLYGHAM preferred to Lady Samantha and Nearly A Breeze. All three on our shortlist are looking to follow up previous victories. Quillygham is the only Pipe runner on the card, and lost his maiden tag last time out with a very comfortable success in a competitive looking contest at Taunton, and he's quickly turned out before going up the ratings. He's the youngest one here, and not nearly as exposed as some. First time cheekpieces helped Nearly A Breeze win comfortably at Exeter on New Year's day. It wasn't a great race, but has thrown up some subsequent winners. Lady Samantha has more than a stone in hand on several here, and her last outing saw her comfortably win a weak mares race, after previously being totally outclassed. This isn't a great contest either, but one that's well within the capabilities of Quillygham.
