In depth

Verdict

Asudo gets a narrow vote over Inishturk, Before Dark and Heavy Weather. Quite a few in with chances here, but Asudo is taken to get back to winning ways after his defeat at Ascot where he was picked off by Potts Of Magic. The winner was not entirely unexpected that day though, and judged on his earlier wide-margin success at Towcester in October, the five-year-old can make full use of his stamina here. Inishturk relished the step up in trip when scoring at Kempton last month, and despite a rise in the weights, is rated as one of the main dangers along with Before Dark who likes to get his toe in and who goes well fresh. Heavy Weather was held up to get the trip when opening his account at Towcester a month ago, and is now upped in class. Nevertheless, he has to be included in calculations along with Catchthebug, although he could do with some respite from the handicapper. Asudo has conditions to suit here, and coupled with his ability to stay every yard of the trip, has more claims than most.
