Verdict

A modest affair by any stretch of the imagination and My Retreat is narrowly preferred to Its A Classic and Mistified. My Retreat is completely exposed but is at least in form and might be worth giving another chance to as the assessor has not gone mad for his recent success. Its A Classic is still a maiden and while it is a little ambitious to say he is knocking on the door, it is noted that his recent second came in a very weak affair. Mistified has had 32 runs without success but is the top weight on account of ability. Lake Imperial makes his first outing for Evan Williams having left Heather Dalton. Cheekpieces are put on for the first time. Coorbawn Vic has less miles on the clock than most. Kingscourt Lad is much better than his latest line of form suggests but is hardly one that could be cast in the category of a potential improver. Brown Fox handles the surface and is one to watch in the market. My Retreat is given the nod in a race that won't take a lot of winning.
