Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Tony McCoy can team up to good effect again with his old boss, Martin Pipe, when he gets the leg up on Time To Roam, who is fancied to see off the challenges of Hattington and Layasar, who head the list of dangers from the rest. The latter has not really progressed since making a couple encouraging starts in bumpers last year. He is obviously not the most straightforward individual in Paul Nicholls' yard. But he should appreciate the ease in grade this afternoon and cannot be ruled out of running a big race in this company. Hattington, as the sole runner from the Nicky Richards team to make the long journey down from Cumbria, is an obvious one to monitor in the betting. Still the form of his two starts over hurdles is nothing out of the ordinary and he needs to find a little more to figure today. Joint top weight Desert Spa, unlike many of the rest, has at least got a recent win to his name and is also worth keeping tabs on when the market is formed. However, Time To Roam has the more solid form to his name and, with McCoy back in the plate, he is expected to have his mind made up for him when it really matters this afternoon
