Verdict

A field large in numbers but low in quality and the principles look to be Eric's Charm, Cosmos Blue and Tomwontpayalot, but we will side with Eric's Charm. The gelding from the Oliver Sherwood yard won well on his debut this season when defeating Unlocked, and although he has a penalty for that win, with A P McCoy taking the ride he is given the vote to follow-up. Cosmos Blue is another from an in-form yard and he was a good second behind Wild Oats last time despite being badly hampered. He is sure to have come on for the run and has definite place claims. Tomwontpayalot is another that has shown plenty of ability and has reportedly strengthened up through the summer and this step up in trip seems sure to suit. Of the remainder, Whitford Don is a well-bred gelding from a top yard and is worth noting in the market, but we are happy to stick with the more experienced Eric's Charm.
