In depth

Verdict

Cold Stare is a three-times winner around here and is just 1lb higher than when last successful on soft ground at Ayr in October. Donald McCain has two entries here. Paws The Thought likes a sharp track and very nearly made a successful return at Chester while Russco's victory here in August was the middle-leg of a five-timer. Asad's two career victories have been at Chelmsford but Ascot Adventure returned to action with a fine run at Doncaster and he's been left on the same mark. Gavin Cromwell doesn't waste journeys and looks to have spotted an ideal opportunity for EARLS (NAP). He was in good form on soft ground throughout last summer in Ireland and made an excellent start for his new yard at Naas a fortnight ago and has a promising apprentice on board.
