In depth

Verdict

Old campaigner Quito and Tim Easterby's Somnus both have the ability to win this Listed race but both would probably prefer a softer surface so preference is for Suggestive, who gets the vote. The selection should have no problems with the underfoot conditions and coming from the in-form yard of William Haggas can be expected to be fit enough on his first start since running in Dubai during the winter. Cape Columbine looks to be going the right way and could be of interest with David Elsworth's runners tending to improve with racing this term. New Seeker is another that would probably prefer a softer surface, while Appalachian Trail needs to improve on all known evidence. If the rain came Somnus and Quito would have to be respected but that is unlikely and a safer bet looks to be Suggestive, who gets the vote.
