In depth

Verdict

Glorious Gift showed ability on his debut at York but that did not seem to be the strongest of races and, at the likely odds, Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt looks worth taking on with preference for Errigal Lad, who gets the vote over Almoutaz. The last mentioned ran a race full of promise on his Newbury debut last month and should be suited by the faster ground today so warrants plenty of respect. Reg Hollinshead's Bahamian Lad ran promisingly over course and distance first time out and has claims, along with Brian Meehan's Birkintastic, who has the benefit of having had two starts. Hieroglyph should be suited by the fast ground and could be of interest first time out but preference is for Errigal Lad, who gave every indication on his Redcar debut that he would benefit from that outing.
