Verdict

A match on paper and one that can go to Patternmaker although Pompadour is given maximum respect. Patternmaker's second to the useful Kenmore is suggested as the reason why we should prefer him to the newcomer. That runner has gone on to finish a creditable fourth in a handicap at Glorious Goodwood and is reportedly highly rated by the Hills' clan. If he handles the surface, Patternmaker should be able to bring his significant experience into play. Any maiden of Jeremy Noseda is worthy of respect, especially when a top flight jockey is booked for the job. The daughter of King's Best is watched eagerly in the market for any clues. Her father was capable of winning over seven furlongs as a juvenile so it will be interesting to see if a slow run race develops. Primarily has failed to win even at claiming levels and is opposed again tonight. Her better form is with much more cut in the ground than she's likely to face here. Mystical Ayr would be a well-named Scottish scorer if good enough but as a relation to horses who showed form over ten furlongs and further, we will pass. Golden Remedy is hard to make a realistic case for. An interesting race in spite of the low numeric turnout and one that can go to Patternmaker.
