    Verdict

MAYSON should have little trouble in taking care of a modest bunch, with Crimson Knot taken to fill the forecast spot. Richard Fahey's late foal has a pedigree containing plenty of speed and made an eye-catching debut when second at York. He's probably going to prove more effective over six furlongs but the stiff finish here negates any trip concerns and he simply looks a cut above of the opposition here. Crimson Knot is clearly no star but she may be able to grab her third straight second. Her effort when five lengths behind Excel Bolt reads well and whilst it was only a seller she was beaten in last time her effort was still commendable, and like our selection this stiff finish should open the door to further improvement. Countrywide Flame shaped as though the run was needed at Haydock and the winner looked smart that day so he can leave that run behind, whilst Glitter Bug needs to do likewise to figure having shown little to date. He was prominent in the betting ahead of his debut but disappointed and this drop in distance wouldn't be an obvious move on breeding. Roman Ruler has been sent off big prices and has ran accordingly so far and Baby Driver finished last of 12 on debut and needs to find leagues of improvement, so this really does look set to provide a clear opening for Mayson, who should be odds-on.
