Verdict

A smaller than usual field for this prestigious amateur contest but competitive all the same. Royal Cosmic has been steadily returning to form and scored with authority here eight days ago. He should go well off his lowly perch but the concern is that he now faces totally different ground conditions compared to last week. Therefore, THORNTOUN CARE gets the vote despite taking a rise in trip of 3f after his recent Ayr success. He goes really well for an amateur or apprentice pilot and is very much at home on quick ground. Duke Of Yorkshire was well behind the selection last week but is better off at the weights here and probably did not run to his best that day. Four Kingdoms cannot be ignored on the best of his form either on his second start for the Smith team.
