Verdict

Mark Johnston has his horses in good form and his Love Galore gets our vote ahead of The Riddler. Whilst he knows how to ready a newcomer, Mr Johnston's juveniles often come on leaps and bounds for their first racecourse outings and whilst Love Galore shaped with plenty of promise at Newbury, he should be sharper today and can win. The Riddler improved on his first run when second next time up at Beverley and he showed a good attitude having been headed to battle back and was only beaten by a short-head. Whilst he may prefer a longer trip in time, he should again go well and it will be interesting to see whether he can get an uncontested lead with Love Galore also likely to try and dictate. Next Of Kin steps up in trip but he didn't seem to progress from his first to second runs and needs to bounce back, whilst World Tour and Social Spirit should both improve for their first outings and each needs a check in the betting. A small field, but hard to rule any out, and Love Galore is the narrow preference.
