Verdict

Emmet Mullins places his horses well and looks to have found an ideal opportunity for THE LAST EMPEROR (NAP). A winner for Roger Varian as a two-year-old, he was only beaten just over 3l in a lucrative Cork handicap in June and this is a big drop in class. Set In Stone won a Class 5 handicap here in July before finding heavy ground against her on a return visit while Redgrave has been running in Class 4 handicaps all summer so should find this more to his liking. Firlinfeu, another Irish challenger, ran very well on heavy going at Roscommon last time but is unlikely to get those conditions here.
