Verdict

Arrgatt, Bijou Dan and Rouge Et Noir are all shortlisted in this maiden and the nomination is given to Arrgatt. The selection looks to be going the right way and he ran with great credit behind Carte Diamond at Redcar last time. He will be suited by the drop in trip here and with conditions to suit he is difficult to oppose. Bijou Dan is a well-bred gelding and hails from a shrewd yard so it would be no surprise to see him go well on his debut. A watching brief on the market is advised but he may just need this run against some more experienced rivals. Rouge Et Noir has shown a decent level of form in bumpers but he disappointed on the flat at Ripon last time and although he clearly has ability he is best watched on this occasion and it may be that he will benefit from the step up in trip. A market move for any of the other newcomers should be noted, but Arrgatt sets a fair standard here and is taken to score.
