Verdict

Monash Lad probably has the best form of the trio to race but this may lie between two of the unraced horses in the line up with Spy King marginally preferred to Arabian Ana. The last mentioned is a son of Night Shift, trained by Bryan Smart who is more than capable of producing a juvenile to win first time out. Mark Johnston's two-year-olds have a good record on their debuts this term though so the chances are that Spy King will be forward enough to win this. A distant View half-brother to three juvenile winners in America, he makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and looks worth a bet. Ian Semple's newcomer Invertiel is bred to appreciate further and a bigger threat may come from Propellor, who ran with credit on his Newcastle debut but is far from certain to reproduce the form. Patxaran needs to step up considerably on her first effort to figure in the finish in a race that is taken to go to Spy King.
