In depth

Verdict

Slipperfoot is taken to get the better of Urbe Condita and Rothesay Dancer in a competitive opener. After a narrow defeat at Musselburgh, Urbe Condita made amends by holding on in a tight finish at Nottingham on his next start. He handles fast ground and is a tenacious type for whom this tough uphill finish should hold no terrors but he is saddled with top weight and there may be less hindered rivals. Rothesay Dancer has only one win to his credit, but that was at Catterick last year on ground similar to what he encounters here and the handicapper continues to give him a chance of ending a winless run. His third to Loch Verdi over the course and distance was her best effort for some time and she will be thereabouts. Preference however is for Slipperfoot. Taken out of a race at Beverley on Saturday, Slipperfoot has the benefit of two previous runs this season and has shaped well on each occasion, not beaten far. Trainer John Quinn has his string in fine form and rates his filly. Slipperfoot is going in the right direction and can take advantage of the weight she receives from her rivals here.
