Alambic, Charlotte Vale and McEldowney look the leading protagonists here with Alambic taken to atone for two near misses this term and open his seasonal account. McEldowney has been highly tried recently, well beaten both in the Northumberland Plate and in the Ascot Stakes. However, this would seem to be a much easier contest, and his earlier placed efforts this season suggest he is capable of a bold showing here, although he has not won for some time. Charlotte Vale is on a hat-trick after wins at Thirsk and over this course and distance. She has conditions to suit, and can go well despite a five pound higher mark. Alambic had six wins to her credit last season as she climbed the handicap, and she has done well this term, finishing second twice, latterly finishing a close second in a Listed contest. A reproduction of that career best display may be good enough here to enabkle Alambic to win again.
