Lord Rapscallion has been in excellent form this season and very nearly made it three victories when coming from off the pace in a premier handicap at Leopardstown on Saturday. He appears to prefer those big-field events as does Saltonstall, who beat 18 rivals in a premier handicap at the Galway Festival and has been unsuited by heavy ground subsequently. Both are tough and well exposed handicappers who have to concede weight to the twice-raced ELDAMA, who made a successful debut in a Leopardstown maiden before giving the supporters of Fame And Acclaim a fright on his hat-trick bid. With further progress virtually guaranteed, Dermot Weld's filly is taken to get back to winning ways. Mr Wendell and Maud Gonne Spirit have won over 7f here recently but appear unlikely to trouble the principals.
Lord Rapscallion (IRE) 25-1 (10-0) Towards rear, pushed along on outer early straight and some headway 1f out, kept on well and edged left inside final furlong, went 2nd closing stages, 2nd of 18, 3/4l behind Could Be King (10-0) at Leopardstown 7f hcp gd in Sep.
Saltonstall 50-1 (10-0) A little slow into stride, towards rear, still travelling smoothly from 3f out, soon headway and not clear run, kept on without threatening inside final furlong, 9th of 20, 3 1/2l behind Laughifuwant (9-10) at Curragh 1m hcp hvy in Aug.
Mr Wendell (FR) 10-1 (8-13) Tracked leaders, 3rd halfway, ridden and lost place entering straight, no extra, 12th of 16, 4 1/2l behind Current Option (9-13) at Galway 7f hcp sft in Aug.
Contrapposto (IRE) 40-1 (9-9) Rear of mid-division, pushed along over 2f out, 7th and ridden 1f out, no impression and kept on one pace, 6th of 11, 10 3/4l behind Jerandme (10-1) at Down Royal 2m 2f hcp Yielding in Sep.
Eldama (IRE) 9-4 (9-5) Tracked leaders in 3rd, pushed along under 2f out and effort, on terms over 1f out, soon led, headed and kept on without matching winner closing stages, 2nd of 4, 3/4l behind Fame And Acclaim (9-10) at Punchestown 7f sft in Sep.
Maud Gonne Spirit (IRE) 4-1 (9-8) Mid-division, 6th halfway, ridden and no impression over 1f out, kept on one pace, 7th of 10, 7 1/4l behind Teed Up (9-1) at Galway 1m 1f hvy in Sep.
