Verdict

The betting at Kempton suggested CAPTAIN PEACOCK had improved over the winter and he duly returned a winning favourite when stepped up to 1m3f. Bill Knight’s charge scored with plenty in hand and a 9lb hike in the weights may not be enough to anchor him in this. Rock 'n Red needed 1m4f to lose her maiden tag at Wolverhampton and Gabster may prove a bigger threat on his earlier second in a handicap at the same track. Nutbourne Lad was second at Nottingham earlier this month but still beaten a long way and Goldenfield needs more after ending last season with a couple of placed efforts. Peloponnese never threatened last year but may finish closer now handicapping for the first time.
