        Verdict

Watching can step up on his latest York effort to account for Machinist, with Bond Boy worth a second look. Watching comes from a stable very much in form at present and will be fancied to go one better than when just touched off at York last week. Richard Fahey's charge came with a storming run on the Knavesmire but failed by a short-head to beat Fonthill Road. A Listed winner for Richard Hannon four years ago, he is very well treated these days and has to be the one to beat. Machinist has come to hand of late and his fourth to Smokin Beau in the Great St Wilfrid has been advertised again by the latter. He is closely matched with Cd Flyer on that form, and along with Devon Flame, can play a part. Bond Boy, winner of the Stewards Cup two years ago, has not visited the winner's enclosure for some time but goes well here and will certainly handle the conditions better than most. Obviously he has paid the penalty for his famous success but the stable has had a few winners lately and he is another possible for the frame. For the winner though, Watching is the one to be on.
