Verdict

The feature race on the card can go to Bowman, who despite this being his first run of the season, should have too much class for the opposition. An entry in the Sussex Stakes also suggests that Godolphin are hopeful of him being a Group performer, which is more than can be said of most of the others. he selections last run came in a Group 2 at Longchamp in October, when he finished fifth behind subsequent Breeders Cup winner Domedriver when with Andre Fabre. Although he has yet to race on going as fast as it looks likely to be at Goodwood, he is still hard to oppose. Serieux has a reasonable level of form, even though he was unplaced in the Royal Hunt Cup on his last run. Prior to that, he beat With Reason at Ascot, which was a fair effort, although more will be needed if the selection is on song. Turning to the others, Passing Glance gained a very good win in a valuable handicap at Epsom on Derby Day, but more will be required. Farqad won a Newbury maiden for David Loder as a juvenile but has had his problems. German raider Mr Tango is hard to assess, although he is a Listed winner in his native land. Sundari - who has been off the track for 663 days - won two of her four juvenile races and finished third in the Cherry Hinton Stakes. Mustaneer was third behind good winner Trade Fair on his return after landing a Leicester maiden on soft as a two-year-old. All in all, it all points to Bowman and Frankie Dettori.
