In depth

Verdict

The Shadwell colours will likely be prominent in the previous two races and Hukum might be a warm order in this after a pipe-opener in a Group 3 at Sandown. He finished fifth in the St Leger last season after winning the Geoffrey Freer at Newmarket but MORANDO has also won at a higher level and the ground has come right for Andrew Balding’s experienced campaigner who holds Sextant on Chester running. Conditions will also suit last year’s November Handicap winner On To Victory, who is fit from a successful campaign over hurdles, while the enigmatic Outbox is due a good run after losing a shoe at Ascot.
