Verdict

Sagitta 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes winner Russian Rhythm side stepped the Sussex Stakes to run her but Sir Michael Stoute's filly faces no easy task over the longer trip and might be worth opposing, which we do with Hi Dubai, who should appreciate the return to today's trip having failed to stay the 1m4f trip of the Oaks last time. Today's distance should be ideal for the full-sister to Fantastic Light, who ran well when second in Group 1 company over this trip in France prior to her Epsom run. Any further rain would help the cause of the Godolphin filly, who may have most to fear from John Gosden's Place Rouge, who was good value for her win in the Lancashire Oaks last time. The drop in trip is not certain to suit her though. Macadamia, another of the older horses, is improving quickly but this represents a big step up in class for James Fanshawe's filly. Russian Rhythm is the best horse in the race and has obvious claims but, on pedigree, is not certain to stay the trip and, at the likely odds, is well worth taking on. Zee Zee Top and Geminiani are both worthy of a mention but Hi Dubai has done little wrong and looks solid each-way value against the field.
