It is a difficult task to produce a trio of fancied runners in this notorious cavalry charge, with this renewal looking as wide open as ever, but the race may be run to suit Knot in Wood, who seems to be in the form of his life, with the well touted pair Markab and Prohibit the others to note. Markab has been largely campaigned over further, but showed good pace to be fourth in the Wokingham where he led the stands side group. Kept fresh for this race since, and running off the same mark, he looks a threat to all. Prohibit was just behind Markab in the Wokingham and is also lightly raced this season. A winner on the all-weather in October, he is clearly in good form and races off a 1lb lower mark than in the Wokingham. At his best on ground with some cut in it, Knot In Wood is attempting a career high, after winning a competitive York sprint last time. He had earlier landed a Group Three affair at Newcastle, and although he carries a three pound penalty, he enjoys fast run affairs, and KNOT IN WOOD can arrive late to achieve a career best.
